How to be a WWOOFer

Becoming a WWOOFer is about more than finding a place to stay while travelling — it’s a chance to learn directly from people who are working with the land.

After joining the WWOOF network in the country you’d like to visit, you can create a profile, explore host listings, and get in touch with farms or projects that match your interests.

During a stay, WWOOFers take part in everyday farm life, helping with seasonal jobs such as gardening, planting, harvesting, animal care, composting, natural building, food preparation, or other hands-on activities.

In exchange, hosts usually provide food, accommodation, and the opportunity to learn about organic growing, sustainable living, and local culture.

How to be a Host Farm

Becoming a Host Farm means opening your home, farm, garden, or land-based project to people who are keen to learn and contribute.

Good hosts clearly explain what their property is like, what kind of work or learning experiences are available, where WWOOFers will sleep, what meals are provided, and what daily routines or expectations apply.

Hosting works best when both sides communicate openly before the visit, including dates, tasks, hours, house rules, safety needs, and any practical details.

At its best, WWOOF is a shared exchange: hosts pass on knowledge and skills, WWOOFers bring curiosity and energy, and everyone contributes to a wider community built around organic farming, sustainability, and cultural connection.
